What is an iris rhizome?
A rhizome is an underground stem that shoots out roots and shoots from its nodes, and this is how we sell our rhizomes.
A plant uses the rhizome to store starches, proteins, and other nutrients. These nutrients become useful for the plant when new shoots must be formed or when the plant dies back for the winter.
If a rhizome is separated, each piece may be able to give rise to a new plant in a process called vegetative reproduction.

When should I plant my iris rhizomes?
As soon as you receive them! They can remain dormant in cool temperatures until the spring temperatures stimulate new growth.
