Our Story

Welcome to Black Cat Floral Ranch! We are so excited to share our love of irises (and hopefully more) with you.

BCFR was founded by Lorraine Egan Marsh in 2024, but she is no stranger to agriculture. Lorraine and her husband, Charles, have been farming on their diversified tree and row crop farm in the Northern California area for almost 30 years. Lorraine fell in love with irises about 10 years ago and never looked back. 

The impetus to become more involved in the iris world came as a result of a love story. Lorraine and Charles’ daughter, Sarah, asked her parents if she could have her wedding in their yard, amongst the first iris blooms of spring. Lorraine worked hard all year to get the place ready, and it showed; when the day came, guests from near and far marveled at the blooms, many asking for irises and advice on gardening. Lorraine saw how happy the irises made people and wanted to help improve the beauty of the world, one iris at a time.

BCFR is a true family business. Lorraine is joined by her daughter, Sarah Marsh Janish, and her son-in-law, Gabriel Janish, in the pursuit of the highest quality blooms. With a dedication to safe, sustainable, pathogen-free production, BCFR is proud to have the opportunity to share their blooms with the world.
